How to Get Started

Are you ready to donate food but unsure how to get started? The Food Rescue Partnership has developed many resources to help.

Where to Donate

There are a wide variety of non-profit organizations throughout the Quad Cities that will happily accept food donations. The River Bend Foodbank operates a 60,000 sq.ft. food distribution center in the Quad Cities and has a network of over 300 hunger-relief agency partners across 22 counties in eastern Iowa and western Illinois.

The primary advantage of donating through River Bend Foodbank is that agency partners are inspected on a regular basis to ensure the food is being given away to those in need, that food safety standards are maintained, and that all IRS requirements for your enhanced tax deduction are met.

Bulk Donations

If your donation is large enough to require a fork lift, pallet jack, or box truck, the River Bend Foodbank will likely pick that up themselves. Please contact Leslie Corlett at lcorlett@riverbendfoodbank.org or 563-345-6490 ext. 206.

Retail stores should contact Bob Evans at bevans@riverbendfoodbank.org or 563-345-6490 ext. 210.

Small Donations and Prepared Foods

For smaller donations, or for prepared food that needs to be consumed in a timely manner, the River Bend Foodbank can match you to one of their agency partners depending on what you have to donate, what the agencies can use, and their capabilities. Priority will be given to nearby agencies in order to make the pickup most convenient. To be connected with an agency, please contact Diane Erickson at derickson@riverbendfoodbank.org or 563-345-6490 ext. 203.
